Pride Month Charity Auction 2023: Rainbow Bobble Shawl

This year for Pride Month, I wanted to do more to support the queer community, so I’m holding a charity auction for this lovely rainbow shawl! 100% of the profits of the auction will be donated to Equality Texas to fight for LGBTQ+ rights in Texas. I’ve done an auction once before, and I thought it would be a great way to fundraise for causes I care about. The auction begins June 3rd at 10am CDT, goes for a week, and ends on June 10th.

If you want to support the cause but you can’t bid, there are SO many other options to help! Donate directly to Equality Texas, or the cheapest option: spread the word! Share the auction or my shop with anyone you know that might be interested. If you aren’t interested in the shawl, 20% of ALL my shop’s profit for June will be donated as well, so take a look around! I have plenty of Pride Bees in my shop in many different flags and 2 sizes, and I take custom orders as well if you want a flag that I don’t have in stock.

A little about this colorful shawl! I used this pattern as a base but added more stripes to make a full rainbow! I used a cream DK yarn from Hobbii, parts of Lion Brand Mandala in the colorway ‘Nifflers’, and an unknown lime green DK yarn. I absolutely love how it turned out. The bright colors are so happy and fun, and the bobble stitches give the shawl some extra texture. Read a brief history of the rainbow pride flag and the meaning behind the colors here. After reading it myself I’m glad I included turquoise in the shawl; art and magic feels like the perfect representation of the ties between the queer and handicraft communities.

According to the Equality Texas website: “Equality Texas works to secure full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Texans through political action, education, community organizing, and collaboration.” I think this is something that most people today can get behind; something that will only benefit us and our dearest loved ones.
