Simple Cozy Earwarmer- Free Crochet Pattern

This earwarmer is perfect for the colder months, and so easy to make you can procrastinate until you can’t stand the cold anymore! It has a slightly asymmetrical look and a ribbed texture that gives it some character without being too chunky. Simple Cozy Earwarmer

Materials

– Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick (6), 1 skein. (Colorway shown is Seaglass) 87 yds/80 m.

– 10mm crochet hook

– Large button

– Scrap worsted weight yarn to sew on the button

Skill Level

Beginner: (hdc, ch, sl st.) Crocheting in the 3rd loop of a hdc and crocheting in the back of a chain may be new concepts. See a tutorial here.

Notes

-Pattern in US Terms

-Worked in a spiral, do not join until the end.

-End of the rows are the short end of the earwarmer (See chart below for a guide).

-Use a stitch marker to indicate the ends of previous rows.

-Measures 23 inches finished

Pattern

Foundation: Ch 39

Row 1: hdc in 2 ch from hook, hdc until 2nd to last ch, 2hdc in last ch

Row 2: 2hdc in back of ch, hdc down back of ch, 2hdc in last ch

From now on, hdc in the chain formed by the back loop and the third loop behind it. Identify the 3rd loop here.

Row 3-4: 2hdc, hdc to 2nd last st, 2hdc (See chart below)

Row 5: 2hdc, hdc to 2nd last st, sl st in same stitch, ch4, sk1, sl st

Fasten off and weave in ends. Fit on head and sew on button.

Tip: Use a stitch marker to mark the end of the rows/where the increases start.
